New article from NPD Team 1 published in the Journal of NeuroinflammationThe latest article for NPD team 1 has been published this month into the Journal of Neuroinflammation.
Membrane-type matrix metalloproteinase 5 (MT5-MMP) deficiency in the 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease reduces brain neuroinflammation along with amyloidosis, and prevents deficits in synaptic activity and cognition in prodromal stages of the disease. In addition, MT5-MMP deficiency prevents interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β)-mediated inflammation in the peripheral nervous system.

Best presentation award for Emmanuel Snacel-FazyParticipating in the virtual conference "Tumor Microenvironment Heterogeneity in Cancer Progression: Challenge or Opportunity", Emmanuel Snacel-Fazy, a 2nd year PhD student in the GlioME team won the prize for the best presentation on the "Remodeling of the glioblstoma immune landscape by smac mimetic GDC-0152".

The GlioME team has obtained a "Action Structurante" funding for the creation of the PETRA facility
Emeline Tabouret and Aurélie Tchoghandjian, in collaboration with Thierry Virolle's team at the l'Institut de Biologie Valrose in Nice, are among the two winners to have obtained "Action structurante" funding from the Cancéropôle PACA.
This funding aims to structure the neuro-oncology at the preclinical and translational level in the region (between Marseille and Nice) and will be used to create the PETRA (PrEclinical and TRAnslational Research) platform on these two sites.

Chiara Bastiancich published the last article of her first postdoc on GRAVITY project 🎉
The challenging goal was: delivering to the brain metallic nanoparticles via focused ultrasound-mediated blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeabilization, to heat them using lasers for glioblastoma photothermal therapy! In this paper she shows one of the steps to reach this daunting task.
