PhD candidate in Neuroscience - MSCA ITN ECMED. Working in Marseille, France. Research focused on epilepsy and neuroprotection mechanisms.
I have obtained my first degree on Molecular Biology and Genetics from the Democritus University in Greece, and naturally decided to study abroad to explore the aspects and opportunities of the exciting field of biomedicine. After completing the Molecular Medicine Master Program of Uppsala University, Sweden, during which I was funded by Karolinska Institutet, Sweden and University of Bergen, Norway to validate in vivo a number of drug compounds from a drug screen targeting cancer stem cells in glioblastoma multiforme, I am currently a member of the H2020 Marie Curie ITN ‘‘ECMED’’, with a focus on the study of epilepsy. My research project is focused on characterizing novel anti-epileptic drugs developed by our laboratory in Institute of Neurophysiopathology, Aix-Marseille University and partner biotech company, Vect-Horus. My personal desire and target for the next years is to develop such knowledge and expertise so as to create and bring the applications of biomedical research to medical care.
