Dr Aurélie Tchoghandjian is a CNRS Research Director and co-leader of the Gliomagenesis and Microenvironment (GlioME) team at the Institute of Neurophysiopathology (INP, CNRS UMR7051, Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, France). She coordinates the PETRA network, PrEclinical and TRAnslational research in neuro-oncology in the South Region of France and the scientific leader of the PETRA’TECH’ platform dedicated to preclinical models of brain tumors.
Her research, recently rewarded with a CNRS Bronze medal, focuses on glioblastoma biology, with a particular interest in cancer stem cells and tumor-microenvironment interactions, aiming to translate mechanistic insights into novel therapeutic strategies for glioblastoma.
After earning her PhD from Aix-Marseille University in 2009, she completed post-doctoral training in Prof Simone Fulda’s lab (Frankfurt, Germany) where she investigated Smac mimetics and glioblastoma cell death pathways. Since establishing her independent research group in Marseille in 2018, she has developed advanced preclinical models (orthotopic, 3D human-derived cultures, brain clarification and light-sheet imaging) to explore the immune landscape of gliomas and tumor heterogeneity.
