Analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) is a technique that couples ultracentrifugation to an optical system that allows the measurement of particle sedimentation in real time. This technology allows, in a single analysis, to characterize proteins, nanoparticles, extracellular vesicles or other molecular structures in their native environment.
The applications for analytical ultracentrifugation are therefore diverse:
- Protein characterization: determination of stoichiometry, molecular weight, protein conformation, aggregation, protein-ligand conjugation...
- AAV, vectorology : determination of the capsid load in genetic material
- Studies of antibody-drug conjugation
- Study of nanoparticles: size and conformation of liposomes, micelles ...
