Dr. Emeline Tabouret (MCU-PH) and Dr. Chiara Bastiancich (Post-doc) from the GlioME team received the "Emergence" grant co-funded by the Canceropôle PACA and the Association pour la Recherche sur les Tumeurs Cérébrales (ARTC-Sud).
Dr. Tabouret wants to develop CAR-T cells directed against glioblastoma stem cells. The first step will be to design and then transfect the CARs into T cells and analyze their efficacy in vitro. The second step will consist of analyzing the in vivo efficacy of the CAR-T cells.
Dr. Chiara Bastiancich wants to understand the defense mechanisms that the brain develops after the surgical resection of glioblastoma, in order to evaluate whether they can be used as a therapeutic target to reduce the incidence of local recurrences. The funding obtained will allow her to develop the first step of the project, concerning the study of the microenvironment of tumor resection and the selection of molecules to be encapsulated in her local system.
